Roscommon to name Connacht Final Team Wednesday Morning
Wednesday, 14 July 2010
ROSCOMMON are expected to name their team for next Sunday's Connacht Final following training tonight (Tuesday). The players will be the first to know followed by the Media and general public on Wednesday Morning.
There was also good news for Roscommon supporters with Senan Kilbride, Fintan Cregg and Enda Kenny all playing a practice match over the weekend and coming through without any ill effects from their injuries. This will certainly please Fergal O'Donnell and his management team as they prepare for the biggest game in the county since the 2004 Connacht final.
News from the Roscommon camp confirmed that both David Keenan and David O'Gara sat out training with slight injuries but both should be fit for Sunday while all other players in the panel are fully fit.
The only absentee being Mark O'Carroll who will be out for the rest of the year following his knee injury against London at the end of May.
Is history on the Cards?
Should Roscommon defeat Sligo and win the Connacht senior football title, it could also be an historic one for James McKeague, Paul Garvey and Kevin Higgins, members of the Roscommon panel.
Should Roscommon win on Sunday, they would join a very select group of players who have won Connacht medals at minor, under 21, junior and senior level. It is not sure of these are the first ever but there is certain belief among certain Roscommon supporters that they would indeed be the first even Roscommon men to have the full collection of provincial medals at those four grades.
