All systems go for 66th Ballygar Festival

SIX DAYS of top Entertainment at the 66th Ballygar Carnival kicks off this August Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday July 29 to August 3.
Running since 1945 this years line-up includes top bands, street entertainment, Market Day, Marching bands competition, Discos, Bingo, Fancy dress, a Talent Show and more.
A festival for all ages in its 66th year the festival has its usual mixed-bag of music, entertainment and prizes.
Every year the carnival delivers the best in local entertainment and organisers have continued to push the boundaries and improve the festival year after year. The Grand Carnival will open with 'Beat on the Street' by Jessie's Revenge at 9 pm on Thursday night.
The Nightshift Roadshow will play at the centre featuring professional DJ's and indoor pyrotechnic fireworks from 11.30 to 2 am.
A hurling tournament will puck off at St Brendan's GAA pitch for all the hurling fans.
On Friday July 30th an on the street Tug-O-War will open the festival proceedings with weigh-in at 7 pm sharp. Doc Savage and Shandy Folk will perform during the pulling battles so get your gloves on and pick a side!
The Big Generator will play at the Centre and admission is only €13. The Annual Carnival soccer tournament starts at 12 mid-day at the Niall Walsh Field on Saturday July 31st.
David and Blue Tax will play a free street gig at 10pm and at the centre the Ballygar Talent Show starts at 8 pm admission is only €5.
With €1,000 up for grabs display your talent be it singing, poetry, dancing anything your in with a chance to win.
The Classic Beatles are playing at the Centre Saturday night with top hits from the greatest Rock and Roll band ever.
On Sunday August 1st St Brendan's Ladies FC are hosting a 5k/10k Fun Run/Walk, support the club and test your fitness you can run, walk or crawl.
The Third Marching Band competition is to be held at the Niall Walsh field on Sunday at 1.30 pm.
Bands from the Cadet, Traditional and open classes will compete for the prize.
What promises to be a colourful day of entertainment for all the family the competition will be followed by a Marching Bands parade down the street.
The kids can pick their favourite characters and dress up for the Fancy Dress Children's Party at 4pm on Sunday.
Wolfe Tone is back by popular demand at the centre on Sunday night featuring Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe.
Stalls, Cally making, Butter making and the Farmers market are just some features of the Old Fair and Market Day on Monday August 2nd.
The Barpersons race at 8pm precedes the Free Street Concert at 9pm by the Dublin City Ramblers.
On Tuesday August 3 Monster Bingo will take place at the Centre at 8.30 pm, win €5,000 in Prizes or a Jackpot of €1,500.
Get your groove on at a disco with the free Bird Roadshow between 11.30 pm-2 am and admission is only €10.
