THE COMMUNITY Liaison Worker of the Western Region Drugs Force Emmet Major has urged people in Roscommon to attend a public meeting on the availability of drugs in the county.
“If people don't think drugs issues aren't going to affect them, they need to think again. We need to get more people involved.
The public meeting will be held in Gleeson's, Roscommon at 7.45 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) with a view towards forming a local Anti-Drugs Committee.
“This meeting isn't about closing headshops, it's about the presence of drugs in Roscommon. In the medium-term the whole issue of drugs goes beyond the presence of headshops in an area, a large volume of drugs is sold on the internet. This is not just a Roscommon town issue, it affects the whole county," Mr. Major said.
“We are trying to form a local anti-drugs committee and we are trying to get additional people to put their names forward. We got 60 names and numbers at the meeting last Wednesday and we need people to get involved."
